Stay Home Series - Butterfly Symmetry Prints

Stay Home Series - Butterfly Symmetry Prints

We are sharing a fun butterfly art tutorial day that includes paint, butterflies and symmetry. This tutorial is fun to do with children of all ages. This tutorial comes from Ashley from The Land of Littles. She has other super cute tutorials and posts on motherhood and littles on her blog which is linked below.

Many of us are social distancing by staying at home, and with that comes the task of keeping little ones entertained and engaged. Our #StayHome series features homeschooling moms from all over the world who are sharing little crafts and fun tutorials just like this one.

Enjoy!

Materials needed:

  • Paper

  • Acrylic

  • Finger paints (not watercolors)

  • Paintbrush

  • Pencil or template

  • Black marker

Steps:

1. Use a paper of any colour. Fold it in half and reopen and draw one side of a butterfly or use the template. If using the template, fold on the line and open.

2. Have your child paint any pattern on the one side that is drawn/printed.

3. When they are done, have them fold the paper in half and apply even pressure before the paint dries.

4. Open it up to reveal the symmetrical butterfly and lay it flat to dry.

5. Once dry, draw the body, antenna, legs and wing ribs

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial as we have many more to come. With the whole COVID-19 virus keeping us in our homes we’ve started a series called Stay Home Series where homeschooling Moms from all over the world are sharing little crafts and fun tutorials just like this one. Our hope is that they can help give you a few more ideas on what to do with your little ones during this time as well as encourage you and let you know that we are right here alongside you and you can do it.

Be sure to visit Ashley over at http://thelandoflittles.com/ or visit her Instagram page @land_of_littles_.

Sending you lots of love and hoping you and your family are doing well.
